We are strengthening our capability within system modelling, simulation, and advanced control development, and are now looking for a Senior Development Engineer to take a leading role in shaping the next generation of after?treatment functionality across Traton’s powertrain portfolio. Our group is responsible for the control and diagnostics of catalysts and particulate filters for all engine projects within the organization.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will drive the development of a complex system of understanding through modelling, and translate that into robust, efficient, and future?proof functionality.
Your responsibilities include:
Leading the development of mathematical and physically based models for after?treatment components and complete systems.
Developing and optimizing model?based control and diagnostic functions using C?based implementations.
Driving improvements in methods and tools for model optimisation and validation, data analysis, and system characterization.
Translating insights from system behavior into design decisions throughout the full development cycle—from concepts to legacy support.
Interacting with test engineers to design and interpret experimental campaigns for model calibration and system verification.
Supporting teams across the organization with system insights and modelling expertise.



You will work both on test benches and in vehicles to ensure that the functionality performs as intended under real?world conditions.
Who You Are
We believe you bring several of the following strengths:
You have experience working with the calibration of engines, catalysts, or particulate filters in engine test cells, ideally supported by strong modelling competence.
You have experience and knowledge in software development. Coding in C and MATLAB/Simulink, as well as software testing, is an advantage.
Ability to build and validate models that explain system behaviour and guide functional decisions.
Broad experience in simulationdriven development, including datadriven and physicsinformed modelling.
A background or strong interest in chemistry—particularly related to emissions, materials, or reaction kinetics—is appreciated but not mandatory
A proactive and creative problemsolving mindset, with the ability to communicate complexity clearly to varied stakeholders.
You have a Master’s degree in Engineering with a relevant specialization or someone with similar experience.
You speak and write English. If you don't know Swedish you have a desire to learn it.

Role Summary

Bearing currents pose a major durability risk in electrified propulsion and transmission units. In the group EMC Solutions and eMotor testing (Domain ePropulsion and Drivetrain development) we are developing methods and models to understand and mitigate bearing current issues in our electric propulsion units. We are now looking for a curious and driven engineer to join our group as an industrial PhD student in a research project focusing on tribology for electric vehicles. The project aims to develop a physics-based design tool for predicting, understanding and ultimately mitigating bearing current-induces damages.
As an industrial PhD student, you will be academically affiliated with the Division of Machine elements, Department of Engineering Sciences and Mathematics, at Luleå University of Technology (LTU) in northern Sweden, and having supervisors both LTU and Traton throughout the project.
The field of machine elements generally involves the analysis and optimization of machine components and component systems based on performance, energy efficiency, reliability, and environmental impact. Within this field, tribology- the study of friction, lubrication and wear in contacts- is central, and in this project you will contribute to building fundamental knowledge in electrified tribological contacts, with a specific focus on bearing currents in electric powertrains. The project is largely experimental in nature, but will contain simulation and model development to support the understanding of underlying phenomena. You will spend most of your time at Traton R&D in Södertälje and part of your time at LTU in Luleå.
Job Responsibilities
Your tasks as an industrial PhD student include, but are not limited to;
Plan and execute scientific investigations – on site in Södertälje and partly at LTU
Perform experimental model- and component-level studies of electrified tribological contacts
Develop tribological models and methods.
Write scientific articles and present results at seminars and conferences
Write and defend a doctoral thesis
60 credits of higher education courses in the technical field
Be part of our innovative team at TRATON R&D, developing and verifying our products
Collaborate closely with our development engineers to implement new knowledge into the product development process and ensure industrial relevance of the research

Role Summary
This role is a part of TRATON Group R&D, located in Södertälje, Sweden
Our mission is to deliver, maintain and develop product structures for the complete Scania product portfolio. The unit provides vital product data within weight, ICD and material data sheets, and acts as support for R&D throughout the entire product development process.
Further responsibilities include development of common methods, tools, ways of working and planning for all technical product areas. The ICD team is responsible for creating models and measurements to publish Individual Chassis Drawings (ICD, 2D) to body builders around the world. Today, the ICD team consists of four persons in Södertälje and a team of five colleagues in India, working closely together in daily deliveries and continuous improvements.
Job Responsibilities
Analyse and follow up on incoming product changes and how they impact ICD drawings
Create new or updated ICD drawings based on product changes and customer needs
Create and maintain 3D models
Handle inquiries from the market side and contribute to the daily helpdesk

The Vehicle Properties and Use Case Management group is part of the Group Product Portfolio team in the TRATON GPM, Group Product Management function. The Group Product Portfolio team’s mission is to secure each Brand’s success by balancing all Brands’ requirements in a common TRATON Group portfolio, delivering aggregated group product roadmaps and securing best portfolio properties.

The responsibility of Vehicle Properties and Use Case Management is to systematically describe the current and future needs of the transport system to secure that the TRATON Modular System have the necessary range of functionality to meet all brand’s needs including brand positioning and product differentiation.

The way of working is based on the TRATON Modular System (TMS) and the User Factor methodology. Customer needs are structured in the User Factor database that is used for both performance analysis and implementation support evaluations.

We are working in an international environment, collaborating with our colleagues in the whole group.
 

THE JOB

In the team all members need to understand both the bigger picture as well as being the expert in some sub area. This means that you will work in a dynamic context with several connected activities. Main responsibility areas are:

/ Manage the TRATON Group Use Case Database, govern the product portfolio and its needed properties

/ Create transparency on customer needs working with Use Case and property analysis including target setting for development to secure the right customer value

/ Being experts on and securing the TRATON Modularization Strategy through modularization driven performance differentiation

/ Take part in developing modularization theory and perform training from a TRATON Group perspective

/ Drive continuous development of the user factor methodology to support TRATON Group needs

 

YOUR SKILLS

/ You have a degree of higher education in the field of Industrial engineering, business administration or the equivalent.

/ Experience from data analysis and data engineering  is of good use for evaluating the business needs and translate into user factor requirements.

/ Experience from working with properties and knowledge of modularization is beneficial as well as an established network within the Traton group.

/ As a person you are driven, self-motivated and structured with a high level of integrity. You enjoy working in an international fast-pace environment and use your flexibility and creativity to manage various levels of challenges.

/ Excellent English communication skills (both written and spoken) is required as you will have frequent contacts with other TRATON functions and the Group brands and alliance partners.

Who we are
The team provide independent and objective audit and consulting services, which are oriented towards the goal of adding value to improve effectiveness and efficiency. The audits and consulting services provided are focusing on TRATON Holding as well as Cross-brand topics, initiatives and processes. We are working in an international environment and collaborating with our colleagues in the whole group.

We are a team of dedicated people from with various backgrounds in the fields of engineering, internal audit, management consulting, business development and data science. We enjoy solving problems with our cross-functions and the brands in the TRATON Group and always try to find the best solutions for the Group. Responsibilities

In your role you will

• Preform cross-brand assurance and advisory tasks, towards the goal of adding value to improve efficiency and effectiveness of business processes and to strengthen integrity

• Preform cross-brand assurance and advisory tasks within the areas: Strategic Product Planning, Research & Development, Alliance Mgmt., Production and Purchasing

• Be a vital part of the audit need assessment/planning and scoping

• Communicate findings and recommendations to TRATON group (incl. brands) heads of functions and upper management

• Be part of the buildup of the TRATON internal audit

 

Your profile

We are looking for you who have a university degree in engineering or another relevant university degree. A professional experience in internal audit, management consulting, project management or engineering is an advantage. You have the ability to analyze complex issues from a range of perspectives and form considered judgements around the actions to be taken (ability to see the big picture as well as the details). To succeed in this role we believe you are prestige less and have a flexible communication style with the ability to adjust your approach and influence others. Since we are working in an international environment you should have intercultural competence, experience in an international environment and be fluent in written and spoken English. The role includes some travels to our group brands and an openness to this is encouraged.
