Our powertrain control systems play a pivotal role in the functionality, performance, and environmental footprint of our products. As part of the Engine OBD System Regulations Unit, we are tasked with setting requirements and central functionalities for diagnostics and fault management within engine and aftertreatment control systems. Our group is part of the cab and chassis organization at Scania R&D. It is responsible for exterior parts on the truck chassis, including plastic panels and covers, wheelhouse, and radar and light installation. The Product Instance and Product Adaptations department is looking for our coming Business Analysts for product adaptations to join our Conversion team!
As a Business Analyst for product adaptations, you will be an important player in providing our customers the possibility to reconfigure vehicle functionality, this to add value to the customer or follow legislations. Your work will enable our customers to add modern or increased functionality to Scania products via workshop visits or Over the Air updates, which can increase secondhand value and prolong the lifetime to keep our products sustainable. You will also play an important in improving the Conversion platform which enables software updates and reconfiguration of Scania products in close collaboration with the IT development team.
Conversion is the tool that weekly enables 50,000 software updates and 3000 reconfigurations for all of Scania's products and is widely used by all around the world in our service market network. What will you do?
Prepare and implement reconfiguration packages to modernize the current fleet. For example, replacing propulsion battery generation on BEV vehicles and making sure that Product information and spare parts are up to date for the reconfigured product. Test the rebuilds directly on the truck or bus in our workshop
Together with the other team members, be responsible for Scania's reconfiguration process

In collaboration with the rest of the team handle incoming support cases on conversions and system issues

Our business:
Vehicle Service information has the responsibility to provide workshops with safe, efficient and ergonomic methods, along with spare parts and special tools, for repair and maintenance of the complete vehicle. We are a part of R&D and are involved early in the development phase to influence the product for easier maintenance and repair.
To evaluate ergonomics and access of components we perform digital simulations as well as physical tests. These simulations are also used further in the flow when developing methods and information to the technicians in the workshops.
Project Coordinator role:
In the role as project coordinator you will have a wide network within Scania and work cross-functional over the organisations within Scania. There will be multiple projects running at the same time, where your role is to coordinate upcoming tests with other organisations as well as within the own group. For the last 20 years, Scania has partnered with Cummins Engine Company in a joint venture to develop and manufacture common rail fuel systems. The main product development site for the high-pressure pump and fuel injectors used in the XPI system is located at Cummins Fuel Systems in Columbus, USA and since 2017 a product development and product support office has been established here at Scania in Södertälje to allow for closer cooperation with current and future European customers and suppliers.

Our Team
The Södertälje office has grown both in personnel and capability over the last few years and we are now roughly 30 employees, working in 3 separate groups. One of our team members is moving to a new role and we, therefore, have an excellent opportunity to bring in a development engineer to the XPI design and development team. We are now a team of 7 people plus a manager and the team consists of both design and development engineers as well as project leaders.
We work in a truly global environment with daily contact and collaboration with colleagues in the USA and with suppliers and other Cummins teams located worldwide. Being located at Scania has further developed our collaboration with the Scania R&D organization, allowing us to jointly develop and tailor future fuel systems for customers within the Traton organization. The Team is currently focused on designing and developing the next generation of the fuel pump and fuel injectors which will play an important role in meeting coming targets for emissions both in Europe and North America.
Your role
As a development engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of XPI fuel system products, both injectors, and high-pressure pumps, from the pre-development phase through the introduction phase and into current product support. You will work in close cooperation with the development team in the USA and worldwide. Additional responsibilities and duties include:

Drive the design and take ownership of the development of fuel injectors and pumps to meet system and customer requirements.
Create CAD models and drawings of components for supplier review and procurement.
Develop, plan, analyze and document component validation and testing in rigs, engines and vehicles.
Lead cross-functional design reviews according to Cummins and Scania product development processes.
Ensure product capability meets or exceeds expectations and take mitigating actions when project risks are higher than expected.
Represent the team in the different cross-functional work groups and establish relationships with peers within the global Cummins and Scania fuel system organizations.



Your profile
We are looking for an enthusiastic engineer with good problem-solving, quality decision-making, and communication skills, who is willing to take the initiative. You have a genuine interest in technology and product development and are willing to take a hands-on approach.
You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
You have 3-5 years of previous experience in product development, preferably within engine or fuel system development.
Previous experience in CAD is merit.

Scania has decided to establish a third industrial hub in China with the capacity to produce some 50,000 vehicles per year. Alongside building a new factory and an expansion of the sales network we will also establish a local R&D organisation in China. Our mission in R&D Industrial Operations Asia is to develop trucks specially adapted for the Chinese market, the biggest commercial vehicle market in the world.
The Team
The work will be carried out by a dedicated organisation – which will develop and manage the products over time. We work mainly in the early stages and with concept development. The organisation will consist of colleagues from all brands within the TRATON Group together with many new colleagues from China.
We are building the organisation simultaneously as we develop the product. We are now looking for an additional development engineer that can help us explore cost optimizations. The starting point for the powertrain is the Scania combustion engine, exhaust treatment system, and gearbox. However, to be successful in the Chinese market we have to adopt the premium powertrain to meet the challenging product cost target in the B+ segment.
Your Profile
We believe you have a solid background in automotive and powertrain development. Most likely you have worked as a design engineer with CATIA V5, or similar tools, and appreciated the frequent contact with purchasing, production, and other colleagues working with cross functions of the Powertrain and Complete vehicle.
You are structured and thorough in your work and can easily put together clear technical requirement documents that ensure that we get the right products for our needs. We believe you have a passion for technology and can understand cause-and-effect relationships in a technical system. This position is great for you who want to broaden your knowledge of Powertrain and dare to challenge the current technology to find more cost-efficient solutions.
Your Education

The cable harnesses are the blood vessels of the TRATON vehicles, keeping the vehicle’s electrical functions working through all situations. Your?tasks?
As a VCA cable harness designer, you will be working with the development of TRATON’s future truck portfolio, along with improving current functions in our current Scania product portfolio.
You will be involved in product development projects in all stages, from concept development, and industrialization, to maintenance of released products.
Together with your agile work team, you will be responsible for some electrical systems and projects. You will then be responsible for either developing new 3D routing or/and electrical schedules for those systems, along with creating other needed product documentation. You will also be responsible for deviation handling for these systems.
You, and your team, will work in one of our agile flow, focusing on several projects in parallel within one product area, and you will follow the maturity of your systems during their whole life cycle.

The Engine System Regulations group is responsible for requirements setting and central functionality for diagnostics and fault management within the control systems for engines and after-treatment. Your Role
For OBD you will coordinate and follow up on other groups’ diagnostic deliveries, see that relevant information is produced and that OBD certifications can be performed both at Scania Technical Centre and in other locations around the world.
Lead the cross-functional expert group for diagnostics and certification together with engineers responsible for the powertrain control system, testing, and product conformity.
Be a natural contact with our customers, internal and external, in the area of OBD development and certification-related activities.
Lead the group scrum-planning.

Your assignment
The work consists of overall optimization of the engine and exhaust after treatment. The development starts with the concept and moves on to the introduction in production followed by the handling of field assignments. To be able to analyze test results and draw the correct conclusions, a practical touch and an analytic skill together with a good understanding of combustion engines including exhaust after treatment, are required.
A great part of the work is conducted in an engine test bed and a test vehicle with the following analysis and report writing. To verify the engine and exhaust after treatment function in different environments and installations, you may come in contact with vehicle testing in different climates. The main focus for you will be on handling a large amount of data collected from vehicle tests and the analysis to ensure that we are fulfilling the legal demands for emissions in real driving conditions.

About the Role

Your Tasks
Depending on the projects you will be involved in, you can end up working on either development of the drivers area or sensor installation:
Drivers area
You will develop the next generation driver area to meet future driver and bus operators demands. Together with other team members, you will participate in early concept phases and all the way into the industrialization phase.
Typical objectives can be: setting ergonomic demands, 3D packing in CAD, evaluation of solutions, suggesting the way forward and develop parts in 3D/2D environment.
Sensor installation
You will install sensors (e.g. radars, cameras, lidars) on different positions on the bus. It is done in close cooperation with system owners who is responsible for the sensor itself. You will participate from early concept phase into industrialization phase.
Typical objectives can be: to investigate the bus specific demands and assisting the sensor owner to specify the sensor´s needed performance. Later in the project you will design different concepts of the installation and suggesting the way forward. The parts are developed in 3D/2D environment.
Your contact network will be large and include industrial design, ergonomic, function/system owners, suppliers, purchase and production. You have to be prepared to travel in order to meet our bus body builders, since their build process and demands are significant for a well-functioning driver area.
We have a close cooperation with our bus colleagues within TRATON and often meet them in our common projects.
Your Profile
You are an M.Sc. or B.Sc. engineer, with specialization in mechanical engineering/product design development. You have some years of experience within designing parts in plastic (injection molding and vacuum forming process). You have good skills in Catia v5 or similar system.

Dina arbetsuppgifter
Som utvecklingsingenjör med inriktning konstruktion arbetar du tillsammans med övriga i gruppen för att utveckla, samordna och planera arbetet för att skapa en effektiv och kvalitetssäkrad produkt. At Product chassis follow-up truck chassis we primarily work with field quality issues related to most of the truck chassis components and systems. Your assignment
The extent of the tasks we handle can vary from common adaptations - of which you can process several per week - to more complex solutions that could require a big project. This wide scope and varying complexity create endless possibilities for you to develop your competence and grow. You will never have two weeks alike!
Some of your main responsibilities will be:
Technical investigations of customer requests; when an order is placed you will describe the adaptation in the product description system and on drawings.
Product ownership of our special gas solutions and their maintenance over time.

Solve field quality issues, when they arise.

I samarbete med bl.a. teknikinformatör, metodingenjör och reservdelsredaktör skapar du information till Scanias eftermarknad, framför allt verkstäder. Du kommer att jobba en hel del med CAD-underlag men även fotografier och ritningar mm för att framställa tydliga illustrationer och animeringar.

Vi använder ett flertal produktionsverktyg med tyngdpunkten på IsoDraw, Adobe Creative Suite och Catia V5 (CAD).

We are looking for a dedicated manager to take the lead and be responsible for the group working with simulations within the areas of vehicle dynamics, crash, and acoustics for all bus development departments in Europe and Latin America. The simulations are done on both the system level and whole vehicle level, all the way from pre-development via industrialisation to product follow-up. The simulations connect both to the chassis and the bus body. Therefore you will work closely with our external bodybuilders worldwide to offer the best complete vehicle to the customer.

You will together with your team consisting of nine simulation engineers and one simulation coordinator, support the organisation through exciting times where new technology meets new customer demands, new ways of working meet a modern agile leadership style.

As a manager, you are expected to strongly contribute to the bus development organisation. You are responsible for driving the strategy and implementing a safe, efficient, and sustainable new working method.

As a simulation engineer, you will support design engineers in improving the components from a strength and durability point of view. Another important aspect is finding sustainable solutions and generating ideas that minimize our environmental impact.

Some of your typical work tasks will be:


• Performing FEM simulations and recommending design changes based on your results.
• Create presentations and reports in a comprehensive and clear way.
• Cooperate with test engineers to align and compare your FEM results with component failures in large-scale physical tests.

Electrification, autonomy, and a high focus on sustainability are transforming the complete vehicle industry. Your role

As a developer in our team, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of control strategies and functions for fuel pumps and injectors in Traton's entire portfolio of drivelines and engine projects. The work is varied, and you have the opportunity to influence the technical solutions from idea to finished product. All to create a better solution for our customers in terms of performance, emissions and consumption.

Development work includes writing requirements, implementation, testing, verification and documentation of functionality. Software development is mainly done in C, but also in Matlab/Simulink. Testing is done in rigs, engine test cells or out in a vehicle. To better understand customer needs and develop our products in the best way possible, our employees also have the opportunity to obtain a truck driver's license (requires Swedish language proficiency). We work in an agile manner and continuous improvement is a natural part of our operations. Your profile

We think you have a masters degree within a relevant field such as mechanical engineering, computer sciences or electrical engineering, or have some other equivalent experience. We would like to see that you have some years of work experience within vehicle development, control systems development or embedded software development. We also believe that you have previous experience with some of our tools such as Matlab, Simulink and programming in C. Some of the work also involves analysis of collected log data, so experience in data analysis is a plus. Since part of the testing is done in vehicles it is an advantage if you, in addition to a B-driving license, have a truck driver's license.

Job description
We are looking for a Strategic Project Manager that would like to contribute to the long-term success and profitability of Scania/Traton.

In this position you will work as a management consultant finding, creating, and deploying tools & methodologies that will support the line organization on primarily 2 subjects:


• to identify capabilities that create customer value for the future.
• to understand the global talent pool and find ways to access it for solutions that should be developed in collaboration with Partners.

You will lead diverse initiatives in collaboration with your colleagues and other stakeholders across the organization to suggest recommendations on the way forward. Of course, the recommendation will need to be executed and it will also be your responsibility to support its deployment together with the different management teams. It is all about connecting the dots of the big picture and being able to execute simply!

The Team

The section Exhaust Aftertreatment Performance has responsibility for the performance and function of the reduction of hazardous emissions such as NOx and particles. We are presently looking for a new member to the group Flow Distribution and Urea Vaporization Performance.

About the position

The work consists of testing, evaluating, optimizing and calibrating the exhaust aftertreatment, both as a system and on a component level. Most of the work is done in engine test cells, but testing is also performed in rig, truck and bus. The work is an iterative and dynamic process where many variables should be optimized simultaneously. Everything from the urea vaporization and mixing, to demands on robustness and our customers' total economy is considered in the performed optimisation work.

The exhaust aftertreatment is an integrated part of the driveline, and both influences and is influenced by the engine. Thus, the work is done in close cooperation with colleagues working with engine performance, design and the control system. With the help of genuine cross-functional work you deliver the bases so Scania can choose the best components, so the engine and aftertreatment can be controlled in a robust manner, so we can certify that the system fulfils both present and coming environmental legislations.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who would like to be part of the team that is working on the exciting development of the exhaust aftertreatment systems. You should have a masters in engineering, within physics, mechanical engineering, vehicle engineering, chemistry, mechatronics or similar. Previous experience in practical work within engine or aftertreament testing is a merit. You should have knowledge in data analyses.

As a person you like the variation between practical work with testing and data analyses. You have the capability to consider the whole system and its integration, without losing sight of the details. You like complex challenges and you are interested in learning new things. You look for cooperation both within your team and cross-functionally to solve problems.

You should be fluent in English, both written and oral. Swedish is merit.

Customized solutions for trucks are an important and growing area where Scania aims to fulfill specific customer demands and enter new segments and markets. We at RSM are responsible for the development of customized trucks in a great number of areas: from alternative fuels and electrification to specialized applications such as mining, heavy haulage, and fire trucks. Everything we do starts with a direct customer request.

 

GAS AT SCANIA

Gas trucks have become popular due to high engine efficiency and performance, widespread infrastructure, and low total cost of ownership. Both CxG and LxG trucks are fully compatible with any amount of biomethane (biogas), resulting in great potential for environmental benefits. Gas trucks are, therefore, an important cornerstone in Scania’s adherence to Science-Based Targets.

The gas community at Scania includes colleagues from, for example, Design, Sales and Marketing, Production, Purchasing, Service Information, and Certification. We, together, have delivered around 4000 customized gas trucks in the last 2 years.

Our group, RSMG, is specialized in the design of customized gas trucks, both CxG and LxG, on a complete truck level. We handle product requests directly from the markets, maintain the current product portfolio over time and develop new products for our customers.

Therefore, the extent of the tasks you could handle can vary from common adaptations - of which you can process several per day - to more complex solutions that could require a big project. This wide scope and varying complexity create endless possibilities for you to develop your competence and grow.
