Role Summary
The base engine diesel calibration engineer focuses on optimizing engine performance for the off highway segment i.e Genset, Industrial and Marine. This role ensures engines meet stringent emissions standards while delivering power and optimizing fuel consumption under various operating conditions.
You will mainly work with Scania’s own engine control system, focusing on base engine calibration, results analysis and product support for the sales and aftermarket organization. The work is carried out mostly in the test cells in-house with opportunities to work on customer machines.
Job Responsibilities
Develop ECU calibration for Diesel engine to optimize performance, fuel efficiency and emissions.
Calibrate key engine functions such as air and fuel management, injection, torque control and more.
Conduct real world testing to guarantee calibration quality, robustness and compliance with regulations.
Analyze test data using calibration and measurement tools like INCA, MATLAB and Concerto.
Prepare technical reports as requested to show progress and results achieved.
Act as reference for other functions [Design, software, test operations] for calibration activities on control system of engines.
Collaborate with cross functional team like design, test operations and certification to support engine development projects.

Role Summary
The Test Cell Operation ePropulsion & Drivetrain group is responsible for providing powertrain development teams with testing capacity, including test rigs and personnel. The group owns and operates approximately 30 test rigs used to verify gearboxes, propeller shafts, electric and conventional rear axles, inverters, and electric machines, among other components.
We as a group have a great team spirit, and we always help each other to succeed in our deliveries.
In recent years, many of the test rigs have been rebuilt to meet the testing needs of electrified test objects. We are now continuing to develop the test field with more inverter testing and an increased focus on ensuring the quality of the measurement data we produce.
As a Test Cell Engineer in our group, you need to be adaptable across different technical areas and have a broad technical interest.
This role is part of TRATON Group R&D, located in Södertälje, Sweden.
Job Responsibilities
You will be responsible for a number of our test cells. This includes both hands-on work with installing and removing test objects, as well as managing and developing these test cells. In case of deviations, you will be the problem owner, lead troubleshooting efforts, and convene cross-functional meetings to resolve issues. You will also be responsible for some testing, which may involve handling test scripts and continuously monitoring tests. Additionally, you will contribute to the group’s ongoing improvement and work environment initiatives.

• Utilize your expertise in solid mechanics and perform FE analyses to support our designers in developing and optimizing components and systems that ensure a high level of passive safety in case of a crash event.

• Conduct post-processing and analysis of results, and provide reports containing conclusions and recommendations.
• Develop load cases, set acceptance criteria for our products, and plan required simulation activities globally.

As a Brake System Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in shaping one of the most complex and safety-critical systems in our vehicles: the brake system. You’ll take the lead in driving testing, development, and homologation activities—especially for special vehicles, which are tailored to meet specific customer needs.

In this role, your key responsibilities include:

Coordinating assignments related to braking systems for special vehicle projects in close collaboration with relevant departments
Planning and conducting vehicle testing and homologation at Scania’s test track, during winter tests in northern Scandinavia, and at supplier facilities in Germany
Managing homologation processes in collaboration with Scania’s certification department and external regulatory authorities (e.g., in the Netherlands)

ENXPS – The Fluid Dynamics and Acoustic Simulation group is currently looking for a simulation engineer to join our CFD team at Scania. The group provides a full understanding of internal flows and acoustic properties?for various components and systems at Scania, including exhaust after treatment, air intake, and HVAC-systems. We collaborate through an agile and cross-functional setup including R&D, Production, Sales & Marketing and Purchasing departments to develop the charging system and power distribution on our Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). You belong to the R&D organization but your task is to lead one of twelve cross functional teams within the agile release train (also called VCT at SCANIA), with team members from Production, Purchasing and R&D. Every team has their own Scrum Master, and you will have the responsibility to maintain and develop the agile culture, lead the team through the development process and facilitating/leading agile meetings.

We are now looking for two Scrum Masters to the following two teams:


• Team Power Rangers - design and develop the power distribution boxes in the high voltage system in Scania’s BEV’s. One example of these boxes is the Charging Inlet Box.
• Team Game of Charge – design and develop the charging systems and functions on Scania’s BEV’s. These systems and functions are crucial to create a safe, robust and reliable charging system and an seamless communication between vehicle and charger.

Our team, UECF provides the hardware and architecture needed to charge the electrical vehicles and to connect all the high voltage components such as batteries and the electrical machine to each other. The charging box, high voltage connection boxes and electrical power take-off for the bodybuilder are some examples of what we are developing.

About

The battery is the core component of an electrified vehicle, it must give the premium properties that our customers have the right to expect from Scania. Our team, Battery pack and vehicle testing, is responsible for testing the energy storage on the scale from complete packs to full vehicle. We plan and execute tests and analyze results in order to ensure that the batteries fulfill the requirements we need to achieve to continue be a leader within commercial vehicles. The tests include functional and performance tests as well as safety and abuse. The majority of the testing is performed in-house in our new state-of-the-art battery lab.

Your profile

You are a driven and analytical person with experience in data analysis and from testing in rigs or vehicles. You understand the nature of experimental work and enjoy working with hardware with a strong understanding about the underlying physics that you are testing. The test objects, both the packs and the vehicles are highly complex with a lot of built-in intelligence and diagnostics so understanding of embedded systems is of merit.


• MSc or PhD within vehicle, mechanical or electrical engineering or other relevant discipline
• Experience from advanced data analysis and data visualization is meriting, preferably in Matlab or Python
• Experience from embedded systems and on-vehicle communication protocols(ex CAN) is meriting

Your tasks

As a test engineer and data analyst in this team, the main tasks include designing and planning tests, writing test scripts, supporting or performing the execution of the tests, analyzing test results and writing reports. Processing, analysis and quality assurance of data is an important part of the role, the main working tool is Matlab. The role includes close cooperation within the team and with laboratory staff members as well as other test stakeholders. For the last 20 years, Scania has partnered with Cummins Engine Company in a joint venture to develop and manufacture common rail fuel systems. Our Team

The Södertälje office has grown both in personnel and capability over the last few years and we are now roughly 30 employees, working in 4 separate groups. One of our team members is moving to a new role and we, therefore, have an excellent opportunity to bring in a development engineer to the XPI design and development team (DIXV). We are now a team of 8 people plus a manager and the team consists of both design and development engineers as well as project leaders.

We work in a truly global environment with daily contact and collaboration with colleagues in the USA and with suppliers and other Cummins teams located worldwide. Being located at Scania has further developed our collaboration with the Scania R&D organization, allowing us to jointly develop and tailor future fuel systems for customers within the Traton organization. The Team is currently focused on designing and developing the next generation of the fuel pump and fuel injectors which will play an important role in meeting coming targets for emissions both in Europe and North America.

As a development engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of XPI fuel system products, both injectors, and high-pressure pumps, from the pre-development phase through the introduction phase and into current product support. You will work in close cooperation with the development team in the USA and worldwide. Additional responsibilities and duties include:


• Drive the design and take ownership of the development of fuel injectors and pumps to meet system and customer requirements.
• Create CAD models and drawings of components for supplier review and procurement.
• Develop, plan, analyze and document component validation and testing in rigs, engines and vehicles.
• Lead cross-functional design reviews according to Cummins and Scania product development processes.
• Ensure product capability meets or exceeds expectations and take mitigating actions when project risks are higher than expected.
• Represent the team in the different cross-functional work groups and establish relationships with peers within the global Cummins and Scania fuel system organizations.

Your profile

Key Responsibilities

As a part of a software development team you will be responsible to develop the application software for the battery management system for Scania and Traton brands. Battery Pack Safety, emergency switch off and isolation measurement are some of the safety functions and services we work with. All developers work with software requirements, implementation and tests for our modules where the tests can be performed both in simulation and in trucks or busses.

Our System is moving towards ISO26262 certification, so as a developer you are also responsible for following the process and producing necessary documentation. 

For the software function or module you work with, you drive the cross functional cooperation with other involved teams and contribute in the discussions with our stakeholders. You also work strategic with continuous improvements for our product and our tools.

Skills & Requirements

You have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Software engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level. You have good knowledge of C/C++, Matlab/Simulink and RTOS (real time operating system) and several years of experience in Embedded Software development. Are you interested in working with test environment development?

The group "Hardware Test Platform", EPTH, is responsible for the design and build of the hardware in the HIL (Hardware in the Loop) test platform. The HIL platform is used to perform integration tests of the complete vehicle’s electrical system. Our new concept FlexHIL is scalable for many test levels. This means that the same HW that was designed to the complete vehicle testing could be used as well for single ECU testing.

Since we support integration of all systems in the vehicle, this position offers a unique overview and insight in all development within embedded systems at Scania.

Your work assignment

You will be working within the section NME – Emissions & Integration. Our assignment is to fulfill legal- and project demands to the lowest fuel consumption, best engine response and highest uptime possible on the Scania 6-cylinder engine and as well for MAN.

The work consists of overall optimization of the engine and exhaust after treatment. The development starts with the concept and moves on to the introduction in production followed by the handling of field assignments. To be able to analyze test results and draw the correct conclusions, a practical touch and an analytic skill together with a good understanding of combustion engines including exhaust after treatment, is required. A great part of the work is conducted in an engine test bed or in a test vehicle with the following analysis and report writing. To verify the engine and exhaust after treatment function in different environments and installations, you may come in contact with vehicle testing in different climates.

Our development group consists of 10 co-workers and together with them, you will continuously work with improvements, both within technology and methods, is a natural part of the work.

Your profile

The System and Energy controls section, part of Electrification Development, are responsible for the battery controlling software functions, features and tests for electrified trucks and buses. This is one of the key technologies for enabling sustainable transport solutions.

We are looking for senior software developers that will join our group of Propulsion Battery Control development. A group organised in two teams with competence and responsibility to develop functionality to control the high voltage battery for prolusion. Right in the forefront of driving the shift!

Key Responsibilities

As a part of a software development team you will be responsible to develop the application software for the battery management system for Scania and Traton brands. State of charge, state of health, thermal runaway, emergency switch off and isolation measurement are some of the core functions and services we work with. All developers work with requirements, implementation and tests for our modules where the tests can be performed both in simulation and in trucks or busses.

Our System is moving towards ISO26262 certification, so as a developer you are also responsible for following the process and producing necessary documentation. 

For the software function or module you work with, you drive the cross functional cooperation with other involved teams and contribute in the discussions with our stakeholders. You also work strategic with continuous improvements for our product and our tools.

Since the group is growing and we aim to work T-shaped you have a possibility to contribute with your specific interest and skill within our development work. Skills & Requirements

You have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Software engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level. You have good knowledge of C/C++, Matlab/Simulink and RTOS (real time operating system) and several years of experience in Embedded Software development. Experience from automotive applications and standards as well as CAN bus vehicle standard is meritorious.

EPVS group is responsible for VCA cable harness for chassis with traditional powertrains but it also has the overall responsibility for methodology connected to cable harness design within Scania. Together with us you will, a part from being a cable harness designer, be involved in development and implementation of new methods for cable harness design.

We are currently involved in multiple exciting projects and more are on its way to be started. Within methodology we have started a big project that will give us a totally new tool chain at Scania within electronics development.

The group, EPVS, consists of two teams. One team is responsible for the installation of the cable harness in our chassis. This team uses Catia V5 as its tool. The other team is responsible for the circuit diagrams and cable harness drawings which describes how each individual harness is connected and is used as the product documentation towards our suppliers. This team uses Saber Harness and Saber Bundle as tools.

We are looking for a senior development engineer that can strengthen the team within some of our responsibility areas. If you are passionate about development of methods and processes, then we have exciting challenges that are in need of you support. If you are passionate about design of cable harness, then you will be an integral cog in either the Catia or Saber team.

Within cable harness development you have many contact surfaces and the work consists of a lot of collaboration with other groups and cross functions e.g. production and purchasing. Our section has a close collaboration since all group are either designing cable harnesses, cable harness components or developing the power system and its components.

Driving the Shift and sustainability at Scania

Our corporate strategy brings Sustainability to a new ambition level. With our Science Based Targets we are taking a leap in our ambitions on carbon reduction in our operations but also committing to a customer offer with the lowest carbon footprint in the industry. We do this since it is critical to our future success.

Now we will take one step further and decarbonise the upstream emissions. The ambition is to make a great decrease of the fossil carbon bundled in our products until 2025, and continue the decrease until 2030 and further on. At R&D we will work closely together with the purchasing organisation to support with life cycle climate impact expertise and capabilities of analysing big data inputs related to new decarbonisation KPI.

Decarbonisation of Supply Chain at R&D


• Decarbonisation generally starts with design and early concept development. Design choices and material specifications sets the main frame in which further decarbonisation actions might be taken.
• A big proportion of the decarbonisation potential is about supplier selection and supplier development. Decarbonisation must be done in collaboration with the purchasing organisation and sometimes in partnerships with key suppliers.
• The principles and methods of decarbonisation is in line with the principles and methods of R&D – from elimination of waste to the principles that govern our modular way of thinking.
• The responsibility of decarbonisation follow up for upstream emissions is cross-functional, both within R&D and in Scania as a whole.
• Decision support that makes trade-offs very clear is key for taking a good path towards decarbonisation. Cost trade-offs will arise and also trade-offs towards sustainability aspects beyond climate impact.

What you will do

As a sustainability analyst with focus on supply chain decarbonisation you will:


• Work in a small team that work closely together with focus on sustainability.
• Build up a follow up tool (Matlab script and similar) to support the organisation with fast but yet robust analysis possibilities, which will be used for KPI follow up and input to sourcing strategies.
• Build know-how and support in the maintenance of the interlinked KPI for science based target for the use phase.
• Ensure effective cross-functional development and learning and coach the R&D and Purchasing organisations to deliver on their commitments and necessary inputs.
• Understand the needs of our stakeholders to prioritise and initiate and potential decarbonisation actions and which analyses to prioritise.
• Follow internal and external evolvement of existing and future decarbonisation frameworks (e.g. net zero frameworks).

Do you fit the profile?

You have a relevant university degree and a proven record of data structuring and coding in Matlab and similar software. You are structured, result oriented and have good analytical skills as well as a curious mindset.

It is natural for you to see things in a broad perspective as well as going into the details. You like to interact with people from different parts of the organisation and have a very good ability of presenting to broad audiences as well as transferring knowledge in smaller groups.

You are able to build up a fact base in the area of decarbonisation follow up where you will use both our LCA team and do your own analysis.

• An academic background that matches an M.Sc. in applied mathematics, machine learning, engineering physics, computer science, electrical engineering, robotics or matching work experience.
• A Ph.D. within similar research fields.
• Experience in one or more of the following: bayesian modelling, inference algorithms, probabilistic black-box modelling, reinforcement learning, deep learning, sampling algorithms, variational methods, dynamic programming, path planning and graph search techniques.
• Knowledge and experience within software languages such as C++, CUDA and Python along with a keen interest in programming.
• Experience within agile development and robotic systems.
• Experience as a Scrum Master.
• If you are fluent in English both in writing and in speech.

Till oss på Electrical components for Gearbox & Aftertreatment söker vi dig som vill jobba med utveckling och integrering av elektronik i framtidens drivlinor. Du kommer vara en 1 av 9 personer där var och en ansvarar för ett specifikt teknikområde eller ett flertal olika komponenter. Även om alla har ett enskilt ansvar så finns det ett starkt driv i gruppen att samarbeta för att nå en så bra slutprodukt som möjligt. Det du inte kan får du snabbt stöd med då kompentensen oftas finns redan inom gruppen eller företaget. 



Huvudsakliga arbetsuppgifter

Som utvecklingsingenjör hos oss kommer du huvudsakligen att arbeta med utveckling av styrsystems eHW mot växellådor, efterbehandlingssystem och xEV-system. Elektroniken levereras uteslutande av underleverantörer och handlas upp på en kravbaserad specifikation. Arbetet berör dels elektronik och mekanik men även system och funktion. För att lyckas i rollen behöver du vara bra på att självständigt organisera och utföra ditt arbete men också kunna arbeta tvärfunktionellt. 

Dina utmaningar är


• Svara upp för teknisk frågor gällande dina komponenter.
• Aktivt delta i diskussioner om gränssnitt och egenskaper.
• Mäta och verifiera egenskaper hos dom egna komponenterna.
• Teknisk koordinering internt mot inköp, R&D, produktion och eftermarknad.
• Teknisk kontakt mot underleverantörer där Teams/Skypemöten kombinerat med ett par face to face möten och leverantörsbesök per projekt.
• Planera och driva leveranserna internt inom Scania men även mot andra kunder inom TRATON.

Din profil

Som person är du en teknikintresserad, organiserad och ansvarsfull problemlösare som känner en stolthet i att göra rätt från dig. Du är en nyfiken och initiativtagande person som inte räds att fatta egna beslut. God samarbetsvilja, en förmåga att kunna sätta upp egna delmål samt att kunna leverera självständigt på dessa är ett krav. Är du dessutom pedagogiskt lagd med ett glatt humör ser vi det som väldigt positivt.

Arbetslivserfarenhet inom elektronikutveckling, sensorutveckling och arbete hos underleverantör i relevant bransch är meriterande. Vi ser även sökanden som är nyutexaminerade högskole- eller civilingenjörer (maskin, elektro eller liknande) med ett intresse för teknik och produktutveckling.

Dina arbetsuppgifter
På Scania kallar vi produktframtagning för komponentägande då det är vi som i slutändan ”äger” att en produkt vi tagit fram håller hela vägen, samt att vi också förvaltar den efter att vi släppt ut den i verkligheten. Som komponentägare ansvarar du för att den bästa tekniska lösningen tas fram. Det innebär att du jobbar tvärfunktionellt i projekt tillsammans med kollegor inom styling och ergonomi, systemarkitektur, produktion, inköp, eftermarknad med flera. Du arbetar med att ta fram en kravställning, koordinerar provning och leverantörskontakter samt har det övergripande ansvaret för komponenten – du blir spindeln i nätet.

Till din hjälp har du erfarna kolleger och en stor organisation som stöttar och delar med sig av sina kunskaper. Du behöver inte vara expert på allt utan det viktiga är att du ser till helheten, förstår och kritiskt kan bedöma de krav på funktion, ergonomi och hållbarhet vi ställer på en komponent. Ofta ligger helheten i detaljerna och det är kan vara en härlig känsla att verkligen ha koll.

Kort sagt, du behöver vara nyfiken och vetgirig nog för att kunna intressera dig och förstå det viktiga i en uppsjö obskyra detaljer.

Du har solida dokumenterade baskunskaper, högskole- eller civilingenjörsexamen, gärna inom elektronik/mekatronik, ett stort intresse för teknik, är gärna nörd inom något område och inte rädd för att utmana egna och andras vedertagna sanningar. Du har lätt för att hantera och koordinera många kontaktytor. Du klarar dig obehindrat både på svenska och engelska. Har du dessutom erfarenhet av fordonselektronik eller agil utveckling så är det meriterande.

 Dina arbetsuppgifter

Din roll innebär att utveckla felsökningsmetoder i ett nära samarbete med system- och funktionsägare under utvecklingen av Scanias elektrifierade drivlinor. Som utvecklingsingenjör inom diagnos är du servicemarknadens röst i utvecklingsprojekten och jobbar bland annat med att:


• Kravställa projekt på underhålls- och diagnosvänlig konstruktion och design.
• Ta fram koncept på metoder för felisolering av mekatroniska komponenter och funktioner.
• Implementera metoder i nuvarande diagnosverktyg med hjälp av XML- och LUA-programmering.
• Vara aktiv i övergången till ett nytt diagnosverktyg där vi kommer arbeta med programmering i Javascript för att ta fram diagnosmetoder.
• Verifiera utvecklade diagnosmetoder på rigg och i fordon.

Det är en omväxlande roll där teori varvas med praktiskt arbete och den ena dagen är inte den andra lik. Dina leveranser har en direkt påverkan på mekanikerns vardag och är en viktig förutsättning för lönsamheten hos både företaget och våra kunder.

 Din profil

Som person är du nyfiken, initiativtagande och inovativ. Eftersom tjänsten innebär många kontaktytor så är du lyhörd och har lätt för att skapa nya kontakter. Du har lätt för att sätta dig in i nya utmanande tekniska frågeställningar och har en god förmåga att förstå vad som är viktigt för kunden.

Du har relevant civilingenjörsutbildning eller motsvarande erfarenhet. Intresse och produktkännedom inom fordon, elektrifiering/batteriteknik eller inbyggda system är en förutsättning. Du har körkort för bil och ser fram emot möjligheten att ta körkort för lastbil efter anställning. Du behärskar svenska i tal och skrift.
