The work consists of overall optimization of the engine and exhaust aftertreatment, with Scania`s in house developed engine control system, concerning both the performance and emission optimization as well as the emission diagnostics.

The development starts with the concept and moves on to the introduction in production followed by the handling of field assignments. To be able to analyse test results and draw the correct conclusions, a practical touch and an analytic skill together with a good understanding of combustion engines, is required. A great part of the work is conducted in an engine test bed or in a test vehicle with the following analysis and report writing. To verify the engines function in different environments and installations, you may come in contact with vehicle testing in different climates.

We are also looking for competencies within documentation since it is of outmost importance to document our work in a manner so that an external administrative authority easily can confirm that we are following the market rules and laws with a clear traceability.

Our development group consist of 10 co-workers and together with them, you will invent new working methods within new technical areas to be able to develop our engine for the North American demands, of which we have no prior experience. You will work together with the team in a learning and evolving environment where we together as a team take us on this challenge and help each other to success.

In your work there might also be trips abroad involved.

To continuously work with improvements, both within technology and methods, is a natural part of the work.

Your profile

You are an engineer with a Bachelor degree, Master of Science degree or have acquired equivalent knowledge through substantial work experience within the relevant area. Knowledge within combustion engine technology or control is a demand and experience from emission diagnostics and/or exhaust aftertreatment technology is meritorious. You are a positive person that takes initiative, without prestige and have a good communication skill since the position requires contacts with several different development teams and departments. Your sense of order helps you keep track of the large amounts of parameters of the engines control system during the development and optimization.

You have good knowledge in English, both in speech and writing, and you have a driving license.

What else you lack in knowledge, we will teach you. A background check will be conducted for this position.

Would you like to be involved in Scania's development of sustainable products where electrification is an important part of the formula for success?

A central, strategic part of the electrification process is the battery system, which provides energy to power the vehicle. We aim to create a high-performance product in terms of energy density and safety.

About the group

The group you will be part of is a member of the value creation team (VCT) energy storage and is contributing to several teams in and on the side of the VCT. We have responsibility for safety, performance, properties and legal requirements/regulations. We aim to be a part of high-performance, specialist teams to develop the world's best battery pack systems. The regulations, requirements and certification area is growing and needs more engineering colleagues!

About the role

You will be a member of our regulations team working on battery development and electrified vehicles. Examples of your tasks include investigating regulations and requirements worldwide and interpreting the knowledge into a Scania strategy for developing batteries in the best possible way. Regulations vary and we must make our assumptions and decide how to develop the whole battery pack system in the best possible way.

You will also most likely be a part of lobbying groups. We participate in several groups nationally and internationally. You will be an active part of forming our strategy in future regulations work. The new Battery regulations are new legislation which will form and impact our way of working. Another example of a task is ADR for electric vehicles, second use and producer obligations. This area is very expansive and under change, which is why you must be used to working independently, have courage and have the drive to search for and develop new knowledge.

One day at work could look like this

• You travel to Brussels to meet with different commissioners to affect them in various areas when it comes to battery safety, rules and regulations.
• The next day you might choose to work from home and participate in different teams meetings regarding development work for laws and regulations for "safe batteries".
• Participate in IRL or teams meetings where you share information with other teams concerning regulations governing the transport of dangerous goods (ADR)
• After the meeting, if you are in the office you have a nice lunch or coffee with your colleagues.
• After work you take one of our electric bicycles to Scanias the nearby health centre.

 Your profile

• You are probably a curious engineer with an interest in technology, regulations, law and legal requirements.
• You have the will and ability to develop and push for results.
• You commit and think it’s fun to come up with new ideas and work closely together with colleagues in an inspiring climate.
• You have knowledge of regulations, and legal requirements and preferably experience in the development of heavy vehicles which are under influence of legal requirements. Experience in similar work is a strong merit.
• And maybe you like to take the next step in your career, broaden your skills with a new area, and continue your journey as a person and a professional.
• You are competent in speaking English and good at Swedish.

Application

Please apply by sending in your Cv and cover letter, interviews will be held continuous.

More information is available from regulations engineer Per-Åke Löfdahl 0855381851 or hiring manager Daniel Carlsson, 0855381541.

To achieve with this we prioritize a pleasant working environment with a healthy work/life balance.

Your role

As a HIL HW Engineer at Embedded Tools and Test Environment you will work in close cooperation with testers to produce and maintain an environment that matches project requirements. Many of our upcoming projects will also involve a more integrated Scania, Traton and VW approach.
