Scania is transforming from being a supplier of trucks, buses, and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions. Autonomous and electric vehicles cause a paradigm shift in our industry. This journey will be loaded with fun and challenging assignments.

The share of the customer value that is created by the software is increasing rapidly. Digitalization and software in both vehicles and cloud-based services are key for future success. In this transformation, we also adapt to more Agile ways of working, with SAFe as a guiding star and a VCT (Value Creation Team) that binds our teams together

As part of the CI/CD toolchain, our section is responsible for supplying HIL/SIL test platforms for the SW developers/testers out in the organization. These systems contain the API:s for the users, models to simulate everything outside the EE system (Sensors, Actuators, Environment etc.), and Embedded HW/SW to communicate with the ECU:s. and SW to control everything. Today we have 5 teams with different responsibilities and we need to improve the efficiency in the work between these teams.

This Architect's role is aimed to bind these capabilities together in the most efficient way seen from an architectural point of view. Together with a PM/PO and an RTE, you form the triad in the VCT.

Your?tasks?

• Together with the teams, defining and communicating a shared technical and architectural vision for the test platforms
• Describe the Solution Context and Solution Intent, analyze technical trade-offs, determine the primary components and subsystems, identify the interfaces and collaborations between those
• Collaborate work with Product Management, Solution Management, customers, and Suppliers to find the best solutions for the purpose.
• Help the PO/PM and RTE to Prioritize, plan and execute the items in the VCT backlog

Your?profile

We are looking for senior system architects that have...

• a background in Embedded SW development
• previous experience with similar setups
• a genuine interest in how tools are integrated to create optimized workflows
• a graduate degree in engineering or equivalent
• the capability to manage a large network with many interfaces and your strength is to identify your contribution to the big picture
• knowledge of English and Swedish both in written and spoken form

We offer you

To be a key player in establishing the implementation of Scania’s software step change in a tight team that is based on Scania´s core values.  Driven in an environment with a high pace and innovative, agile and open mindset. The improvements we make today will affect the majority of our developers tomorrow.

Are you driven, self-starter and can work independently as well as a good team player with the ability to make things happen?

Great!
We want to hear from you ASAP

What you will do (Within Scania and TRATON GROUP)

Scania is currently undergoing an exciting transformation from a traditional truck manufacturer to a supplier of complete sustainable transport solutions. Digitization is a crucial part of this transformation - Scania's future success is based on flexible and efficient IT solutions that enable current and future business needs.

To solve these needs, we therefore start a new group with a holistic perspective. The idea is to build a new organization that will be responsible for integration points so that we can create an integrated CI/CD pipeline. The group, CI/CD Enablement (EPIX), will also be responsible for statutory management systems, such as cyber security and software update.

Your role
Your role as an architect for tool chain means that you will have the overall perspective of the tool chain needed for developing the electrical/embedded system of the vehicle. You will translate needs from standards, legislations and internal initiatives into manageable requirements for the agile development teams to implement in the tools.

Your Profile
You have experience from R&D business, preferably from Scania. You are striving to understand the whole architectural picture with respect to business, information and technical layers and are interested in the digitalisation journey. You are challenged by understanding business needs and translate them, in collaboration with the agile development teams, into innovative, user-friendly tools that supports development of the electrical/embedded system.

You are able to understand both business and technical challenges. Since you will be working in a global environment you express yourself fluently, both in speech and writing in English. Swedish is meritorious.

• You have a university degree, preferably within IT
• You have at least 5 years + experience in related work within embedded system, preferably automotive or other similar industries
• You have experience working as an architect
• You like to coach, motivate, present to bigger groups and to tailor technical information to various audiences and stakeholders.
• You naturally take a leading role in discussions with customers and stakeholders (internal/external) to assess, refine and challenge complex business/technical needs. Your values, acting and sharing of expertise guides others in doing what is right.
• You have the ability of strategic overview to drive the development of safe products.
• You are easy to collaborate with, happy working in a team, but are also capable of working independently when required.

We offer
We offer an interesting and challenging job where there is plenty of scope for new ideas. Our corporate culture is characterised by openness, diversity and respect for the individual. Employees are our most important resource, so we invest in training our employees and giving them the opportunity to broaden their skills in order to be able to grow with us.

We also offer you Scania Job Express, a direct bus that runs between Stockholm and Södertälje. You can also enjoy other benefits such as an option to sign an agreement for an employee car, flexible working hours, lunch benefits at reduced prices and much more.

Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Our team sits at the heart of the embedded control-system development at Scania. We provide the middleware that is the interface between hundreds of software components, connecting them with each other and the low-level platform software. This middleware is used by various powertrain control systems, such as the engine, gear box, and battery management.

Being part of an international multi-brand cooperation such as Traton means that software sharing and integration is strategically important. Here, our group is a key player when it comes to designing systems that allow seamless sharing of software components without sacrificing our flexibility.

Your tasks

You will be part of the architecture team. The team is responsible for the development of the middleware used in several systems. The architecture description defines all software components, data objects, and interfaces. Python scripts generate the code that implements this architecture. You will be continuously improving this toolchain. At the same time, you will set the road map for future bigger releases. We are currently planning a major update which will be developed over the next 1-2 years. The focus will be improved modularization and ease of use for the developers. We have regular workshops where we define the requirements and discuss the implementation of the system.

We are also involved in the development of the engine management. Here, we lead the software architects of the function development groups and together we define the architecture of the engine management. This work acts as a major input to the development of the middleware.

Your profile

You have at least 3 years’ experience as a software architect, or you are a senior developer who wants to take the next step in their career. You should have the following skills:

• Development of embedded systems in C
• Object-oriented scripting (e.g. Python or Java)
• Version control systems (e.g. Perforce or Git)
• Fluent English. Swedish is a strong merit.

You enjoy coding, automatizing, and solving complex problems. You have a structured and long-term way of thinking and you can break down requirements to work packages. You are social and you appreciate working with other developers.

What Scania has to offer

At Scania we have a culture where you don’t have to choose between your career and your family. Training opportunities and high internal flexibility foster your professional development. You have high job security and a host of perks, such as a shuttle bus to Stockholm, good deals on leasing vehicles, result bonus, subsidies for health-related expenses, and many more.

Further information

If you want to know more about the position, then contact Stephan Zentner (group manager) at 08 553 523 57 or Johanna Ingels (recruitment specialist) at 070 081 29 90.
