Role Summary
This role is a part of TRATON Group R&D, located in Södertälje, Sweden.
As a Material Coordinator within the Cell Development team, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of battery cell prototypes to support rapid development of electric vehicles. You will work cross-functionally with stakeholders across logistics, testing, and production to ensure materials are available where and when they are needed. Your work will directly contribute to the success of our electrification journey.
Job Responsibilities
Coordinate the flow of prototype materials to ensure availability for testing and production.
Co-chair prioritization meetings to allocate battery cells effectively across projects.
Collaborate closely with Scrum Masters, logistics, purchasing, and production teams.
Drive proactive problem-solving and process improvements to optimize material flow.
Support continuous development by ensuring alignment between material needs and project timelines.



Who You Are
We believe you have a degree in mechanical, chemical, vehicle, or electrical engineering—or equivalent experience. You are structured, communicative, and thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. Experience in logistics planning or material coordination within the automotive industry is a strong merit.
Fluency in English is required; Swedish or German is a plus.

Role Summary
This role is a part of TRATON Group R&D, located in Södertälje, Sweden
Be part of the Traton Electrification Journey concerning testing of li-ion batteries with respect to Safety & Abuse (S&A). Safety testing makes sure that the safety system works as designed while abuse testing deals with restricting effects of thermal runaway i.e. when a battery catches fire.
We offer a working environment by a present leadership with the intention to strengthen each individual's development.
Job Responsibilities
You will make the S&A testing possible by taking charge of the day-to-day business in co-operation with our group members and internal customers. A focus area for you would be measurement technology which will be a part of the position.
Who You Are
You have strong computer skills, enjoy solving practical problems in a team setting, and value interaction with our customers. You have a clear focus and communicate effectively in both Swedish and English, both orally and in writing. Experience working with Li-ion batteries or measurement technology is considered as a merit.

Dina arbetsuppgifter kommer vara materialprovning, i huvudsak mekanisk provning (dragprovning, böj- och tryckprov), provberedning för metallografiska undersökningar samt hårdhetsprovning och framtagning av instruktioner.


• Du ansvar för att säkert använda och hålla ordning på bland annat testriggar, mekanisk utrustning, inköp av material, och instruktioner.


• Du kommer få jobba i ett samarbeta med dina kunder på hela Materialteknik som behöver din hjälp med provberedning för att möjliggöra undersökning av olika materials egenskaper som syftar till att utveckla framtidens hållbara transportlösningar.

Materials technology is an expert function within R&D that works with development of materials to meet future demands of Scania’s products. The group Materials technology for powertrain specialises in cast metals, hardened steels, and tribology.
Our Team
We are a diverse team of twelve people with a genuine motivation to help each other within the team. We contribute as experts in all parts of the Scania Product Development process. Job Description
Your role as test engineer for mechanical testing of materials will include:
Performing mechanical testing
Development of test methods to meet special needs
Performing analysis of materials using other techniques such as light optical microscopy, electron microscopy, or confocal imaging
Responsibility for the daily operations in the mechanical testing lab
Communicating test results both within our section and to stakeholders within R&D
Compiling your test results into technical reports



To succeed in this role, we believe that you have both a practical and an analytical mindset. Analysing the need for testing, proposing and developing test methods, and then performing testing in practice. This requires creativity, attention to details and quality, as well as communication skills.
We would also like that you have a master’s degree in material sciences. Further, you write and speak fluently in English. If you write and speak fluently in Swedish, it is a merit.
Experience in mechanical testing of metals and/or knowledge of solid mechanics or fatigue phenomena is also highly meritorious.
