Role Summary
This role is a part of TRATON Group R&D, located in Södertälje, Sweden.
As a Development Engineer for Workshop Operations, you will be a key player in TRATON’s electrification journey. Your mission is to enable advanced development and testing of electric machines, ensuring seamless interaction between hardware and software in our test environments.
You will join a small, dedicated team with a wide range of responsibilities, offering you the chance to take ownership and grow. Job Responsibilities
As a Development Engineer in Workshop Operations, you will have a broad technical responsibility and a hands-on role in ensuring that ePropulsion testing is prepared and executed with precision. Your work will span from design and construction to coordination and problem-solving in complex technical environments.
In this role, you will:
Prepare and develop solutions for testing ePropulsion systems at our R&D facilities.
Design and construct fixtures and interfaces for various test rigs.
Manage complex technical solutions and ensure integration between different systems.
Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to implement new test applications.
Ensure accurate setup and calibration of measurement systems for data acquisition.
Support programming and flashing of TMS/MGU software and related diagnostics.
Represent the department in technical forums and contribute to cross-functional discussions.

Who You Are
We are looking for someone with a relevant engineering degree and several years of experience in electric propulsion development and testing. You also:
Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the development and integration of electric machines.
Understand both hardware and software and how they interact in complex systems.
Have hands-on experience with CATIA V5 Electrical (design, routing, documentation).
Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills under time-critical conditions.
Have proven experience with measurement systems, including setup, calibration, and data acquisition.
Are experienced in programming and flashing TMS/MGU software and working with diagnostic tools.
Communicate effectively and collaborate well in cross-functional environments.
Are fluent in Swedish and English, both written and spoken (Swedish is essential for daily collaboration with mechanics and team members).

Experience in electrics, project management, and CAD modelling is meritorious. Academic education and/or long practical experience in the field are highly valued. Knowledge of German is considered an advantage.

Personal qualities such as structure, responsiveness, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-changing environment are key to success in this role. The position is based at TRATON Technical Centre in Södertälje, with the possibility to partly work from home.

Safety is our highest priority as we drive the shift towards a sustainable transport system, and electrification is a key on that journey. For our electrified vehicles, the quality, performance, and safety are crucial in creating trust in new technology for our customers. Building this trust will be important to support our customers on their journey to sustainability.
To accomplish that, we need the right capabilities and competence in our high voltage systems team. Therefore are we looking for an ambitious and driven Function Owner that will help us to define and develop our systems and functions for the Power Distribution architecture with a focus on safety functions.

Job Responsibilities
As a function owner, you own the vehicle safety functions in total. From drafting the concept, ensuring implementation and validation, preparing customer release, and collecting feedback, you are responsible for ensuring that the functions work correctly and are implemented according to the project timelines. Key responsibilities include:
Define VCB safety function requirements and use cases together with VCB safety managers and other team members during function concept development
Lead the development and design of the functions, ensuring they meet the requirements
Collaborate with various departments and teams to ensure seamless integration of the vehicle functions
Oversee the implementation of vehicle safety functions, including planning of vehicle tests, end to end test and field tests
Review of test specification and test results
Specifying appropriate test and integration methods and testcases to ensure proper test coverage

This Is Us
Our unit is responsible for the power distribution VCB (Voltage Class B) system (60V-1500V) for the electrified vehicles. We provide the hardware and architecture needed to charge the electric vehicles and to connect all the VCB components such as batteries and the electric machine to each other.
Today, we are a team of about 20 members, all working on electric vehicle systems including design engineers, system owners, scrum masters, product owners, and VCB safety managers. The unit is divided into different teams with focus on certain product areas, with interfaces towards other teams at R&D, production, purchasing, service workshop representatives, and the end customer. You will be part of the VCB system team, which is responsible for both general system development and the safety of the VCB system. The team has members located in Sweden, Germany, the USA, and India.

About the team
The group's scope is the development of battery cells in terms of battery cell requirement specification and validation, analysis of cell data from battery and vehicle test as well as battery cell simulation. We work in all phases of research and development from applied research projects in collaboration with universities to product development and product follow-up.
In an agile environment based on SAFe, we work in cross-functional agile teams with colleagues from other disciplines within battery development such as battery system design, testing and control to deliver optimal cell integration and battery system performance. The cell development work also involves collaboration with other parts of the company such as purchasing, production, sales & marketing and aftermarket. In addition, we cooperate cross-brand within the Traton group.
In the cell development group, you are part of a highly motivated and solution-focused team of competent engineers. We work actively with improving our methods on a continuous basis and have a culture that welcomes new ideas and approaches. We are a diverse team that values team work and supporting each other is key to our success. During a normal week, we work 2-3 days together at the Scania technical center. The other days, some choose to work from home or our Stockholm city office.
Your tasks
Being a part of the battery cell data analytcis team, you will be handling large amounts of battery cell data from battery and vehicle testing as well as customer operation. In your analyses, you will be focusing on battery performance and life time and degradation aspects. For example, you could be using data-driven methods to predict battery life time in customer operations. Or you could be developing new advanced analytics tools to improve follow-up of battery performance in our customer's vehicles. You will be cooperating with colleagues within the cell development group as well as cross-functionally with battery and vehicle test engineers and battery control software developers.
Your profile
We are looking for a battery cell data analytics engineer with experience from battery development and/or data analytics:
MSc or PhD within electrochemistry or other relevant science or engineering discipline
Knowledge of Li-ion battery technology i.e. cell design, safety, testing, quality assurance, production or similar
Experience from research and/or product development within battery or automotive industry
Familiar with Phyton, Matlab, statistical methods, machine learning methods, cloud solutions etc

You are engaged, curious and have the ability and will to bring new ideas and achieve results
You enjoy a fast pace and to collaborate with others
You are structured and work independently while at the same time having the team’s results in focus
Good knowledge of English is a requirement, knowledge of Swedish is meriting

Fuel consumption and CO2 is a top priority for NME. Right now we are facing the challenge of new emission legislations in several of our major markets.

The group Combustion system diesel (NMED) is responsible for developing diesel combustion system, engine and exhaust treatment system concepts and control strategies for the system for all our engine families. The emphasis of the project work in the group is in concept development phase. NMED is a group of senior and expert engineers with a significant impact on how the future combustion engine based powertrains will look like and perform.

Your role ?

As the performance object leader at NMED you will primarily work in concept development phase. The object Performance and Emissions consists of participants from many groups in powertrain development, and your job is to be the link to the project, engine development chief engineer teams and other object leaders from hardware and software groups.

One of your primary deliverables is to create draft object time plans for Performance and emissions, including hardware generations, software releases and system calibration deliverables to meet project needs including major testing campaigns such as summer and winter testing. This is a key input to the development projects.

You will also be part of the weekly test bed planning pulses, and work together with the other performance object leaders at NM chief engineer groups to maintain the planning for performance and emissions testing. You are responsible for long term test bed allocation for the concept development performance groups.

Your?profile? 

Collaboration and communication is an important part of your job. You work independently and structured. Previous experience from coordination or project/object management is a merit. You master English and preferably also Swedish. Knowledge about combustion engines, exhaust treatment, engine control systems or emission legislations is not a must-have. We have many experts in the fields to help you with the details.

Vår grupp består av ett antal duktiga ingenjörer som jobbar med system, funktioner, komponenter och provning. Vi hjälper och inspirerar varandra, har ett dokumenterat gott arbetsklimat och har kul ihop på jobbet. Gruppen ansvarar för system, funktioner och komponenter för elkraftsystemet med fokus på VCA både för lastbilar och bussar. Du jobbar med utveckling och provning med eget teknikansvar inom gruppens ansvarsområden samt har frekventa leverantörskontakter - du blir spindeln i nätet. Du behöver inte vara expert på allt, utan det viktiga är att du ser till helheten, förstår och kritiskt kan bedöma din del i de krav som ställs på elkraftsystemet. Din profil

Vi söker dig som har minst ett par års erfarenhet och är redo att ta nästa steg. Du är nyfiken, gillar teknik och att hitta smarta och hållbara lösningar. Du söker självständigt upp den fakta du behöver och bollar gärna idéer med dina kollegor. Du är van att arbeta i grupp och uppskattar internationella samarbeten. Du behöver ha kunskaper som motsvarar högskole-/civilingenjörsexamen inom fysik, elektroteknik, mekatronik eller systemteknik. Har du dessutom erfarenhet av fordonselektronik, funktionsutveckling, programmering och/eller CAD-vana, är det meriterande. Du har lätt för att hantera och koordinera många aktiviteter och kontaktytor. Du klarar dig obehindrat både på svenska och engelska.

Inom avdelningen Charging & Power Distribution System kommer du att ingå i ett sammansvetsat team av kablagekonstruktörer som kommer att jobba med full fokus på eMobility. Främst kommer du vara ansvarig för att rita upp våra VCA- och VCB-kablage på chassi, där du är en viktig länk mellan layout/chassi installation samt systemutveckling.

Du kommer primärt att konstruera, kravställa och kvalitetssäkra våra hög- och lågspänningskablage med avseende på installation, montering och servicebarhet. 

För att lyckas med det behöver du samarbeta med flera tvärfunktioner, allt från de som ritar elschema och ansvarar för system och elkomponenter till inköp, leverantörer, projektkontor med flera. Du kommer att förbättra våra kablagekonstruktioner med fokus på kvalitet och kostnad samt bidra med att förbättra våra metoder och processer.

We are looking for a dedicated technical product planner, primarily within the E-mobility area, who wants the guide the rest of the organization to develop sustainable products for transport of people in the future.

Your work assignments

As a technical product planner, the main task is to guide the rest of R&D to make the right technical choices in order to get commercial competitive bus & coach products in the future and to meet the long term application and product strategies. Making clear and cross-functionally well-established roadmaps within your responsible area is therefore important. Based on these roadmaps you are responsible to initiate necessary bus projects and to safe-guard that the right components or systems are developed by R&D.

You will be a part of our group where you will find great commitment and openness ,and as a natural part, we support each other even beyond our regular roles. We are working in a global environment and you will have contacts from all over the world both inside and outside R&D. The role involves close cooperation with our colleagues in the bus commercial product planning department to ensure that needs and strategies are met by executing the projects in the product roadmaps. It is important to challenge our way of working and you will provide ideas to make our work even more efficient.

Your profile

You have a broad technical knowledge/interest and you probably have an BSc/MSc in engineering or similar. You are good at strategic thinking and you have the ability to zoom out to see the big picture but also to understand the critical technical issues. You are driven, flexible, positive and you like to communicate and work with others to come to a common understanding. You always find a way forward and you have no problem to anchor cross-functional decisions.

You are good at simplifying, illustrating and communicating complex questions or future scenarios to be able to take well-grounded decision. A sense of order is necessary to be able to document and organize information in a smart way.

You have some years of experience from working within Scania R&D or market department. Experience from the bus business and/or component development is meritorious.

Work assignments

As a design engineer at Scania you are a vital part in the development and quality assurance of our electric powertrains. You will have the possibility to join a highly competent and motivated team were you will affect and take responsibility for the complete powertrain.

Your responsibility could be in one of the following areas: electric machine housing, shafts, bearings, gears, manoeuvring, oil/cooling system or electric machine integration.

The team consists of an object leader (project manager), design engineers, testing engineers, material coordinator and testing coordinator to be able to keep a fast pace in the iterations of the design, with the ambition to reduce the time to market.

The work as a design engineer in the group will provide a unique overall responsibility, were you will get the understanding of how our vehicles are used by the customers. The work enables contact with multiple cross-functions within Scania, as well as other design groups, market, purchasing, after market and production.

The work also includes collaboration with our colleagues at MAN Truck & Bus and supplier distributed all over Europe.

Your profile

We are looking for a driven person that want to be in the fore front of a the electrification era at Scania. As a person you are motivated by challenges in design complexity, time-to-market, collaboration models between different brands and new testing methods.

We believe you have a positive attitude, structured way of working, creativity and a strong sense of responsibility.

Experience from design within, oil systems, strength calculations, manufacturing methods and advanced CAD-modelling is meritorious.

You have an academic background and likely more than three years of design work. You master Swedish and English in speech and writing.
